Collaborative Health Research: Improving outcomes for all New Zealand
The Medical Research Centre is a joint initiative between the University of Waikato and Waikato District Health Board. We support clinical academics to answer research questions that are important to communities in the Waikato region and beyond. Through this research, we support improved health outcomes for patients and families.
The Medical Research Centre is a leading centre for epidemiological cancer research working with cancer experts at Waikato Hospital and across the region. The centre is also known for its research in primary care, rural health, and diabetes, working closely with many local general practices.
We aim to be an internationally-recognised centre of excellence for medical research, complementing our health partners’ reputation for providing world-class clinical care.
