Grade Reconsideration

Due to the COVID -19 pandemic the University of Waikato recognises that some students would have been adversely impacted and this may well have an effect on their grades.

Grades will be determined in the normal way and your lecturers will moderate those grades using their usual processes.

The Grade Reconsideration process allows us to take into consideration any disruption to your studies caused by changes in COVID-19 Alert Levels in any part of New Zealand or any other disruption caused by ongoing COVID-19-related issues, including our students studying offshore. The process to apply for your grade/s to be reconsidered on the basis of COVID-19-related issues will run at the end of each grading period. Students can apply for the reconsideration of grades of impacted papers for a period of two weeks after grades are made final at the end of each Trimester.

This process is available for students who believe that their studies have been adversely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Applications for grade reconsideration for eligible 2023 papers will be open as follows:

C and H Trimesters: 9am 06 March 2023 to 9am 20 March 2023

A Trimester: 9am 17 July 2023 to 9am 31 July2023

B and D Trimesters: 9am 26 November 2023 to 9am 10 December 2023

To apply for a grade reconsideration, please log in to your MyWaikato portal, click into your 'Results' tab, then select the 'Apply for Grade Reconsideration' tile.

It is recommended that applications for grade reconsideration include supporting documentary evidence such as a medical certificate, evidence of a change in financial circumstances, or evidence of a change in family circumstances. If this isn't supplied, the Grade Reconsideration Committee is likely to request this before assessing your application.
