The paper covers academic integrity, effective academic reading and writing, and information and digital literacy skills. In particular, topics will include an introduction to the academic environment, the academic essay and report, summaries, paraphrasing, annotated bibliographies, and referencing.

An undergraduate 200-level paper designed for students with English as an Additional language.
What is the aim of the paper?
The paper’s aim is to provide international students with practical perspectives on listening skills needed for lectures and tutorials at university.
What does the paper include?
The paper covers recognition of aural indicators, lecturer's attitude and interpretation of their intentions. In particular, topics will include strategies for recognising the main points in a lecture, for extracting relevant information and making useful notes and, synthesising information by including listening resources.

What is this paper?
An undergraduate 200-level paper designed for students with English as an Additional language.
What is the aim of the paper?
The paper’s aim is to provide international students with practical perspectives around the ability to discuss and question academic texts with a view to participating in academic conversations, question and answer sessions and discussions at the university level.
What does the paper include?
The paper covers intensive reading and enquiry of academic texts. Reading strategies covered include recognising central points and author attitudes. Enquiry strategies covered include learning to voice opinions and views, engaging in discussion and designing supporting materials to aid the learning experience.

What does the paper include?
This paper offers opportunities to learn and practice strategies to identify written genres, construct research questions and compose discipline specific graduate writing. The paper also offers strategies for analysing text and data and allows students to understand research design and research methodologies.

ENSLA302 – English as an Additional Language: Global Englishes
What is this paper?
What is the aim of the paper?
What does the paper include?
This paper offers opportunities to learn and practice strategies to identify types & speakers of global English, intercultural contexts with English as a medium of communication and contextual and cultural indicators.
The paper also offers strategies for how to communicate across contexts and Englishes, demonstrate personal competency with language, reflect and solve problems with communication. There are also opportunities to understand strategies to approach communicative situations, interact with types & speakers of global Englishes and research the topic of global English.
