Ka whakauruhia te huhua o ngā take ā iwi. A critical examination of theories of first and second language acquisition, learning, teaching and assessment. The application of these theories to the teaching of te reo Māori or thought te reo Māori will be explored. A range of issues relating to Māori language development will be introduced from a socio-cultural perspective.
