The broad objectives of this paper are to provide an introduction to the important field of green chemistry, based on the guiding principles of this field.

A variety of areas within the overall umbrella of green chemistry may be covered, including but not restricted to:

  • industrial applications

  • catalysis

  • mechanochemistry

  • ionic liquids (including those derived from natural products, rare earth elements etc.)

  • analytical aspects of green chemistry
