Cath Forster

I am currently a Regional Coordinator and Facilitator of PB4L Restorative Practice for Te Whai Toi Tangata: Institute of Professional Learning. Supporting school principals and lead teams to implement and embed restorative practices in their school communities is my role, as well as encouraging regional cluster training.

With senior leadership and middle management experience, and having previously worked as a Pastoral Leader and Across School Teacher within a Kahui Ako, I bring a wealth of knowledge, experience and skills to the Restorative Practice Space.  Over the past five years, I have also been part of a Māori History Writing Unit for Te Whanganui-a-Tara  for the Ministry of Education Māori History Group. Prior to this I was a member of the Reference Group for the Restorative Practices Contract, Ministry of Education Writing Group. I work collaboratively with schools, clusters and communities to provide better outcomes for student achievement and success for all.

More recently, I have gained accreditation as a Mediator through the Resolution Institute (NZ and Australia). Within the education sector I continue to strive towards improving educational outcomes for Māori students, Pasifika students and students with special education needs. Continuing to work with communities to share effective teaching practices and encouraging communities to strive to connect and relate will bring possibilities and choices within whānau and young people’s lives. This is why I continue to work in this space.
