My Experience

As a leader, facilitator and coach for Te Whai Toi Tangata - Institute of Professional Learning at the University of Waikato, I provide professional learning and development support for principals, teachers and students that align with the New Zealand Curriculum and Ministry of Education Priorities. My passion to think differently about education and how we can make a difference for all has been illuminated through my experiences as a primary teacher, facilitator of professional learning and a community educator. My strengths are:
  • co-constructing professional learning development (PLD) for teachers, leaders and students with a specific focus on raising all student achievement
  • facilitating PB4L restorative practice professional learning opportunities with students, staff, leaders, and communities of schools that promote relational practices and ultimately engage learners in learning
  • ensuring NZC is central to all professional learning and development and models effective pedagogy and teaching as inquiry
  • providing school teachers and principals with the support, knowledge and dispositions to reflect upon and engage in strength-based leadership practices related to the leadership of local curriculum
  • leading conversations underpinned by coaching and mentoring frameworks that promote transformational change and growth of students, teachers and leaders
  • designing and facilitating workshops, courses and symposia across a range of contexts
  • delivering in-depth and short-term leadership development contract work in schools where required.
