My Experience
I am a courageous educational leader who is experienced in leading and managing change. With 26 years of experience working predominantly in secondary school, five years teaching in London, leadership roles have included Deputy Principal, Acting Principal, Director of Pasifika and Pastoral roles. My recent ‘Student Achievement Practitioner’ role at the Ministry of Education utililised my expertise in change management, working with school leaders to improve student achievement and school outcomes.
Every kura and organisation is unique and to best meet their needs I adopt a ‘coach’ approach: actively listening, observing, building on strengths and being guided by evidence and data. I am relationship based; nurturing respect and trust is important for the success of any partnership.
My purpose is to ‘make a difference’ in the lives of ākonga and I believe that Education is a great equaliser that has the power to help ākonga reach their aspirations. I thrive when faced with a challenge, and enjoy working collaboratively to seek solutions that ensure equity and excellence.
We find ourselves in challenging times with the impact of Covid as well as the upcoming curriculum refresh and NCEA Changes. We need to work smarter, work together and continue to explore and improve the way we teach and deliver a meaningful and relevant learning experience for our ākonga.
