Creative Practices

Creative Practices at Waikato focuses on the active arts and will provide you with the exciting opportunity to explore the creative and the performing arts including music, Māori creative practices, dance and theatre.

Please note: There will be no new enrolments in the Creative practices major, Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma or supporting subject from 2017. Students who commenced a major in Creative Practices in 2016 or prior should consult the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences for advice (wfass@waikato.ac.nz).

Creative Practices explores the development, expression and interaction of cultural practices with an increasing element of technology. You will develop practical understanding and in-depth experience in the creative processes of performance, composition and production within both contemporary and traditional contexts. You will also develop critical and reflective analyses of your own practices.

There are four streams available for the Creative Practices major depending on your interests: Dance, Māori Arts, Music and Theatre.
